Artist Materials - market update
Due to the fall in the Australian Dollar, we are seeing pricerises flowing through the Australian Artist Materials
market. How long this will take to reach individual outlets will depend on stock holdings. Most products being imported from
Asia have already begun to rise, Due to the massive fall of the Australian Dollar against the Yen Japanese products
have been particularly effected with one importer commenting "it may not be viable to carry products from Japan".
Most Australian manufacted products have escaped so far, but I have now been advised by a major paint manufacturer
that they will need to increase prices early in the new year. A prudent artist or school buyer would be well advised to
order early to obtain the best prices and avoid shortages.
